R&D CNC Machining, Inc. was founded in 2005 by Daniel Edward Petry. Since Dan was a young boy, he worked alongside his father, Reinhold Petry, an immigrant from Germany with a strong background in machining and machine building. Reinhold established Hamilton Industrial Products in Hamilton, MI in 1972 where he did custom machining, engineered his own line of hydraulic presses, built large specialty equipment and rebuilt die cast machines. As the business grew a new facility was built in 1996 and the business was moved to a new location in Hamilton. Unfortunately after the 911 attack and the slowdown in the economy, Hamilton Industrial Products was forced to close at the end of 2004.
After purchasing most assets from HIP after its closing, Dan set up shop in the former HIP building. At the start of 2005, R&D CNC Machining, Inc. was fully operational. 2005 and 2006 proved to be successful for Dan until December 24, 2006 when he met an untimely death from coronary arterial heart disease.
Dan's wife Mary decided to carry on the business realizing that her two sons, Daniel Reinhold and Alexander Hans also had a deep passion for machining and machine building. today, R&D CNC Machining continues to improve and expand capabilities in many areas, including but not limited to custom machining, building/rebuilding die cast machinery, hydraulic presses, hydraulic cylinders, food grade equipment and many other diverse types of specialty machinery.
